"Miracle Creek" by Angie Kim: Review

If I coud say one thing ,this book is an " Emotional rollercoaster".

I’ve been lately reading a lot of Thrillers ,as you can see in our blog .I think this one is the best so far ,I probably said the same thing about the last one .But Miracle Creek embodies the mystery genre and gives insight into other societal subjects .

The story revolves around a group of people who are involved in HBOT ; a well-established treatment for decompression sickness, a hazard of scuba diving ;but used for other purposes including fertility ,autism and others .The story gets us into each person involved in this especially after the death of two people ,due a fire incident the mother of the kid that died is suspected .We get to see the trial and each person’s perspective .The lies told by each character trying to protect themselves or oved ones .I don’t want to spoil it to you ,I can just say that it keeps you on edge until the end.Angie Kim’s writing is fluid and easily read with a great deal of description and suspense.

Getting into each character’s mind gives you a certain comprenhension of his choices and motives.

The author is trial lawyer and she has done HBOT therapy with one of her three children .Angie Kim wrote from what she knows and experienced .And that is reflected in the book .

The societal matters treated in this book make it reachable and enlighting ,we get to know inner thoughts of the characters that reflect upon their infallibiity .They’re real characters ;caregivers struggling with their special needs kids ;Immigrants trying to fit in and improve their descendants life.

I highly recommend it ,and I would love to hear your thoughts about it .
