Let's start this year with a review of the acclaimed Memoir of Tara Westover. It's the last book I've read in 2019, a meaningful way to end the year. I hope You've all had a great year, and you're all ready to fulfill your aspirations and achieve greater things this year.
So going back to the book "Educated"; a tale of resilience and tenacity; Tara wrote down chronicles of her childhood and adulthood; her bumpy road to Education;
Tara's Parents were survivalists, believing in the End of Days and actively preparing for it by storing food and fuel. She didn't go to school nor to hospitals as her father believed it was a government conspiracy. But she made it to some prestigious colleges. Her story evolves around leaving her family after experiencing abuse, radicalism and how she navigated through that.
How hard it was for her to sever ties with her family and go on with her life.
It's a powerful story beautifully narrated to engage the reader with it.
It talks about family, abuse, radicalism, education, guilt, and many more.
There were some controversies concerning the veracity of the vents but It was double-checked, She made it to Cambridge and Harvard even without school records. But the events concerning her family she admitted that her memory can be second-guessed. I respect her honesty and how she made it clear all along the book.
Tara's style of writing is compelling ,concise and clear . Which makes the book accessible with a good story to share and take memos from it.
I encourage you to read it but do not expect to be blown away, Memoirs are made to share experience and personal stories. Everyone's story is important and inspiring.
Have a wonderful start of the year , enjoy yourself, your family and friends.
