« And the only times I’m not completely enamored by you are the moments you’re feeling sorry for yourself. Because I don’t know if you’ve realized this yet, but you’re alive. And everytime you look in the mirror, you don’t have the right to hate what you see. Because you survived when a lot of people don’t get that lucy. So from now on when you think about your scars, you aren’t allowed to resent them. You’re going to embrace them, because they’re lucky to be on this earth to see them. »
How can I talk about this book without spoiling anything ? It’s difficult, but I’ll do my best :D November 9th, a random day for us, and a special one for both of the principal characters. And I think you guessed it, the story begin on November 9th, by a dinner reunion between Fallon and her dad, but it doesn’t go the way Fallon wanted, as she was arguing with her dad about her life, but most of all, her acting career. And as I may forget to mention , November 9th is the day when Fallon was a victim of a fire, that ended up with half of her body full of scars. But little did she know that maybe this day will turn into a special one. Actually, while she was having a strong argument with her dad, a stranger called Ben, inteferred and save her. He knows immediatly that he wants the girl. But she’s moving across the country, to New York, that night in order to follow her acting dreams in Broadway.
Refusing to allow love into her life until she’s 23 years old, Fallon refuses to give Ben her contact information, although she wants to continue seing him. Instead, they’ve decided to meet each other, each year, on November 9th, in the same place.
Only, the plan doesn’t go as they may expected, as they fall harder an deeper for each other.
I loved this book from page one. It’s a five star for me. The characters, the writing style, and the plot twist, WHAT A PLOT TWIST ! it had me shocked, and make me love this book even harder.
The story between Fallon and Ben was scarring, with a lot of drama, but perfect. They were the fresh air in each other’s life. Ben, who’s not into the boyfriend and love thing, might have found the perfect girl, and Fallon, who lost all of her confidence since the fire, was always supported by Ben.
« You could kiss me and make me feel better. » She shakes her head and walks toward her bed. « No way ». she seats down on her bed and picks up the book I was just reading. « I read a lot of romance, so I know when the timing is right. If we’re going to kiss it has to be book-worthy ; »
While reading this book, my emotions were all over the places. It made me stay up all night reading it. My feelings were mixed up, from joy and laughing to crying and being angry. But by the end, you’re left with an unforgettable story.
I’m going to read more of Colleen Hoover’s books, for sure !
